Retire to Arizona My arthritis forced a move from Everett, WA to a warmer, sunnier climate. I had both hips replaced the previous year and did not want to lose any more joints. We sold our property in Everett in March 2002, bought a truck and travel trailer and headed south to Arizona. We wanted to get as close to the Sea of Cortez as possible and still stay in the USA. We wanted warm weather and blue skies. We explored all of southern Arizona from Yuma to Casa Grande to Benson to Douglas for several months and finally decided on the Rio Rico/Nogales area to permanently settle. We couldn't have made a better choice. This high desert country (4000 ft. above sea level) is wonderful. The weather has been magnificent, sunny, dry and warm and has eliminated most of my aches and pains from arthritis. We purchased property on top of a ridge with an incredible view of the surrounding mountains and the entire Santa Cruz River valley. We found the prices of property in Santa Cruz County to be almost unbelievably low and reasonable compared to real estate values in the State of Washington. The dry climate here is perfectly suited for my hobby of Small Craft Design and wood strip/epoxy boat building. See Compumarine's web site www.compumarine.com for designs for amateur boat builders. Also, Rio Rico is a great area for golfers with four courses in the immediate vicinity In addition to boat design I have also entered
the Real Estate profession. I am now a Realtor and Co-Owner of the Long
Realty Nogales/Rio Rico office. Long Realty is the largest
real estate company in southern AZ with over 70% market share. If you are
planning to retire to a warmer climate you couldn't find a better place then
Santa Cruz County, AZ. Please contact me for information on homes and land
available or search for properties on my link to the Santa Cruz County MLS.
